You will include in your review the name of the Museum, the location, the date of your visit- Who, What, When, Where, Why.
IN THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPHS (2/3 OF THE FIRST PAGE)-
You will give a BRIEF general overview of the museum including the various collections, the Exhibit currently being presented and any other relevant information about the Museum or Exhibit.

You will choose ONLY-ONE-SINGLE-SPECIFIC-piece of art to Research with in-depth detail. You will use a Minimum of FIVE (5) acceptable sources for this research (see directions for acceptable sources). Use proper scholarly art terminology in describing the subject. You must use Parenthetical Citations throughout each and every paragraph while discussing the subject. Follow all rules and directions for formatting these Research Reviews.

You will conclude with your personal response to the artwork and museum in detail.
WORKS CITED PAGE- USE PROPER FORMATTING OF MLA OR APA.
VERY IMPORTANT! You Must Staple your ticket from the Museum onto the BACK of the LAST PAGE of each Review. Failure to do so will result in a grade of zero. Paper clips of any kind are Not acceptable. Do Not tape the ticket to the Review. There will be no exceptions.

THIS IS THE FORMAT FOR YOUR TWO FORMAL RESEARCH REVIEWS:
Check it frequently while writing your Review. Take it with you to the Writing Lab.
The Review must be No Shorter than SIX-Full-Pages and no shorter than 1500 words (This Minimum word count IS IN ADDITION TO the Works Cited Page).
Use only Times New Roman 12 point font; no others will be accepted.
You must use MLA OR APA throughout the entire paper.
You must use a Minimum of FIVE (5) acceptable approved sources. You must include Parenthetical Citations extensively throughout the entire paper in each and every paragraph. Include a works cited section at the end. One citation at the end of a paragraph or page is Not enough, use them throughout.
Use only Black ink; no others will be accepted.
It Must be typed with No hand-writing found on it what-so-ever. That includes page numbers.
It Must be Double-spaced, not space and a half. Do Not double-double space between paragraphs.
Use white paper only; no recycled green, etc.
Only one side of each page may be printed on.
Turn in a clean-clear copy only; smeared/smudged/streaked/torn copies will not be accepted-do not ask.
The paper Must be stapled together in the upper left corner.Paper clips of any kind will not be accepted.
Do Not use a cover page. Do Not use foot notes.
PLEASE NOTE: Colloquialisms, slang, vulgar phrases, and contractions are not considered formal writing. Do not use them under any circumstance.
Italicize any ancient, foreign or unusual words.
First, type in the upper LEFT corner of the first page:
your name on the first line,

Museum Review I or Museum Review 2 on the third. (Use single space between these lines)
Do Not use a header or a page number on the first page.
Include a Title centered on the first page of the paper below the information in number 15.

Skip a space and begin your paper by indenting for paragraphs. Do Not double-double space between paragraphs. Do Not number the first page.
On all subsequent pages your last name should appear in the upper left corner and the page number should appear in the upper right corner.

Please Note: You are required to use a Minimum of at least FIVE (5) approved sources. Of course, you may use more than FIVE acceptable sources.
So, lets First see what is Not acceptable as a source!!!
You may Not use any sources from the web. Please do not ask for exceptions.
2. You may Not use any Textbook from this or another class, or notes from this or another class.
You may Not use General encyclopedias in print or online including Encyclopedia Britannica, Funk and Wagnalls, Encarta, World Book, World Scope, Compton’s, etc., regardless of where they are located.
You may Not use General Dictionaries- in print or online including Websters, American Heritage, Doubleday Rogets, etc., regardless of where they are located.
You may Not use any source that was not created for college level scholarly work. That would include any elementary or secondary school material, or any SAT, ACT, or CLEP prep material. When in doubt, ask the professor first.
So, what IS left to use for acceptable sources?
College Level Research Databases and E-Books available through HCCs Library Homepage.
Research Books and Journals in print on the shelves of the HCC Library.
Research Books and Journals in print available through the HCC inter-library loan.
Encyclopedias with a Specific focus such as, Encyclopedia of Architecture, or Encyclopedia of West African Artists.
Dictionaries with a Specific focus such as, Dictionary of West African Terminology, or Dictionary of Religion.
PLEASE NOTE: Use only College Libraries such as HCC, SPC, U. Tampa, Eckerd, or USF as your public neighborhood libraries do not carry college level research material.
PLEASE NOTE: Research sources usually should be not more than 30-50 years old in order to be considered accurate and up to date.
PLEASE NOTE: Paraphrasing should take up about 85% of your paper. Always paraphrase in your own, Voice; do not simply copy the authors words (thats a quote). Direct quotes should take up NO MORE than 10% of your paper. Your own personal opinion may then take up 5-10%.
PLEASE NOTE: I will accept late research papers by the next week in class; however, the maximum score possible will be 75% out of 100%, less any infractions or mistakes. I will accept late papers by the second week in class after the due date with the maximum score of 50% out of 100%, less any infractions or mistakes. I will then accept late papers by the third week in class after the due date with the maximum score of 25% out of 100%, less any infractions or mistakes.
